Off Cut.
The objective of this project was based around sustainability. This coffee table is designed to use up scrap off cuts of hardwood. The use of the glass top, fixed with bolts give the table a industrial feel whilst not taking away from the natural aesthetic of the various grains and thicknesses of timber.
The diagonal style of the table provides an alternative function, with the ability to store books and magazines. The two box segments provide an opportunity for the addition of lighting to the set up. |
There are seven different types of hardwood used in this coffee table; White Oak, Cherry, Teak, Mahogany, Walnut, Cedar, and Maple. The variety of timbers gives the table its contrasting colours and textures throughout its body.
