Asymmetric Seating.
This small scale project explores the possibilities of asymmetric seating through 3D printing technologies. The specific printer in question, is the Deltawasp 3MT. A constraint on the design in using this printer revolves around the printers granule extruder and printing in PLA pellets. The 3MT constantly extrudes when printing meaning there cannot be any retraction when printing. This limits which designs are taken onto development.
For this project, I was unable to print the various seats I produced to scale, due to costs. Instead I played around with scaled models in order to develop and explore forms. This short project shows just how effective 3D printing is in term of concepts testing and enabling designers to easily and quickly see their designs.
